Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. When she was a kid she attended her school, the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma's ambition was to become an actor. When she was 6she was enrolled into the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch, where she took classes for acting, singing and dance. The actress had performed in a variety of Stagecoach and school productions when she was ten years old. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, the 2001 film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was cast in 1999. Agents for casting found Emma by way of her Oxford theater teacher. Emma's first cinematic appearance was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. The movie broke all records for opening day and weekend numbers, and was the top-grossing 2001 film. It was highly acclaimed by experts, and also by the performances of its three young stars. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British paper, praised her for her exceptional performance.
